Information on Wellbeing

First year students are required to take a number of courses for the Junior Cycle.

These are:

  • Gaeilge
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • History
  • Geography
  • Science
  • Religious Education
  • Social, Personal and Health Education
  • Civic, Social and Political Education
  • Physical Education

In addition to these, students must elect to take 3 further courses. As the Junior Cycle is a three year programme which lays the groundwork for the Leaving Certificate programme, it is important to choose the elective courses carefully. Together with parents and students, St. Laurence College assists students to choose which courses are most suitable for them, taking full account of their individual interests, abilities and ambitions. The elective courses are:

  • Art, Craft, Design
  • Business Studies
  • French
  • Home Economics
  • Materials Technology (Wood)
  • Music
  • Spanish
  • Technical Graphics
