The Transition Year E Scooter Experience

On Wednesday, September 14th 2022, an E scooter experience company visited the school to work with TY students for the day.

The students first learned all the important facts about using an E scooter. They started with the basics which was how to fold it and unfold it. They learned how the battery and the charger worked. They were taught about the dangers of using an E scooter. They were made aware of the importance of being careful around water, for example heavy rain and puddles. Water can destroy the battery which means the E scooter has to be replaced. It is not possible to just replace the battery.

Students were given a helmet and high visibility vest and allowed to go for a ride on a E scooter.

A few students have their own E scooter and were experienced. The rest of the students enjoyed the opportunity to try out an E scooter.

There were three speeds, echo, average speed and sports speed. Most people stayed at the slower speeds which they said actually felt quite fast. The students did laps around the lower flat car park and then completed some challenges. They had great fun trying to avoid knocking down the cones and winning the challenges.

We really enjoyed this fun activity!
