St. Brigid' Day
We missed one of our important traditions last year in lock down- making St. Brigid's Day crosses.
On a grey and foggy Monday last week Bro. Fred, Bro Gerry and Mr. Doran braved the cold boggy water of the edge of Roundwood Reservoir to cut and collect the reeds for the crosses.
With help from Jamie, Devin and Mikey in 2A Bro. Fred prepared the reeds on Tuesday morning into clean lengths to get ready for Wednesday.
And on Wednesday we are a real community celebration of faith and ancient craft with classes 1 Rech and 1 McCauley learning to weave and interlock the reeds to make crosses.
Bro. Fred, Bro. Gerry, Fr. Mike, Ms. Joyce, Ms. Conti, Mr. Jordan, Ms. Daly, Mr. Lipsett, Ms. Seery, Ms. Scanlon and Mr. Doran were all involved in the morning and even with masks and continuing COVID 19 restrictions it felt like getting back to normal.
I know the students enjoyed the challenge and Jasper might have made 5 crosses before Fr. Mike gathered the students to bless their handmade crosses.
