Ms. Conti is teaching our art class about perspective. Perspective is about the ability to draw things from a distance. We started off drawing in our immediate environment. We sketched hallways, lockers, stairs and furniture.
Then Ms. Conti surprised us with news that we were going to two museums in Dublin to practice our drawing of perspective. The first museum we went to was the Natural History Museum. We were amazed with the variety of stuffed animals and animals in jars. After picking an exhibit that we liked, we began sketching it. We enjoyed the silence of the museum and the atmosphere of the ‘Dead Zoo.’
After lunch, we visited the National Museum of Ireland. We were drawn (no pun intended) to the bog bodies exhibition, as well as the Viking exhibition. We returned to the school with sketch books full of Ireland’s ancient past.
Thank you to Ms. Conti, Ms. Joyce and Brother Gerry for this fascinating trip.
