We continued the '5 Peaks Challenge' yesterday with a climb to the cross at the top of Bray Head from the Southern Cross roundabout.
We were blessed again yesterday with the weather as we explored the path to the top. We climbed up a peak like Carrickgollogan at the top to get a vantage point back over to the Dublin Mountains and we could pick out Carrickgollogan and Ticknock. Adam taught the group how to study the OS map of the area. We calculated how far we had climbed by counting the contours. We calculated the distance back to the DART station using a compass and the OS key and we discussed orienteering in bad weather.
We really enjoyed the views from Bray Head yesterday. It was like being in the clouds! We had a chance to talk about school again on the trail yesterday and discuss plans for the next two challenges. Next week we are climbing the Sugar Loaf!
Thanks again to Adam (Crosscare) and Shauna (Crosscare/The L.A.B Project) for the challenge yesterday.
Onward and upward to the Sugar Loaf!
