Even though COVID 19 has impacted many of our school traditions, Bro. Fred can still help us to explore our local and ancient Christian heritage.
This year Bro. Fred can bring 1A and 1B to the High Crosses of Tully through his camera lens only.
However, he is still able to help the students imagine what would have been though this special virtual tour.
Let's set the scene- September sunshine, the excitement of a bus journey through meandering country lanes, the fresh cut grass of the new parkland, the breeze coming down over the Dublin Mountains and the hum of M50 traffic getting ever so near.
Yes- we are there ..... now get ready to learn about our ancient past and and the history of St. Brigid's Cross... stand listening to Fred in his outside classroom explaining the faint and almost forgotten carvings on the faces and arms of the cross.
Now .... let's run over to the ditch! Can you spot the school all the way over the fields? .... Stretch your eyesight over the cranes in Cherrywood to spot the roof!
Do you see the blackberries in the brambles nestling around the lower cross back on the road? Squash a ripe blackberry in your mouth and listen to Fred recite 'Picking Blackberries' by Seamus Heaney.
Let's explore the ruins of the ancient Church..... listen! ..... Bro. Gerry is calling time for the bus back to school.
