Recently in January- Blue Monday

The third Monday of January and is known as "Blue Monday", a day considered by many to be the most depressing of the year!
The date was supposedly calculated using such factors as: time since the passing of Christmas, low motivation, failure to keep new year's resolutions, debt level, weather conditions and a feeling of a need to take action. This idea of Blue Monday" may not have scientific grounding but many people do feel a bit more low at this time of the year.
To stave off these Monday blues, The St. Laurence Initiative Party aka "The Slips" passed out an uplifting sweet treats to get us through the day just before lunch.
Uplifting!

Care for Carers

Recently our Fifth Year students had a talk with a representative from Localise Youth Volunteering. They are taking part in the project "Care for Carers".
The "Care for Carers" project involves young people from all over Ireland uploading messages of support for carers which will then be turned into a virtual notice board of solidarity. The students will each receive a volunteering certificate and they will become members of a community of powerful young people who take action to support our care workers.
We hope to continue this partnership going forward as this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to become active members in Localise's various other projects. If you wish to find out more about Localise Youth Volunteering or the "Care for Carers" project you can find more details below:

Transition Year

Recently Our Transition students from 4 Contadino received certificates after completing a four week “Life Skills Programme for Schools.”
The interactive course provides students with helpful and effective strategies for dealing with life and its challenges while also gaining a deeper understanding of how our thoughts, actions and feelings are interlinked. Thank you to Tess Byrne from Aware for delivering the programme and helping us promote positive mental health in our school.
