Some Special Retirees in Glencree

Today was the last session of Equine Assisted Learning in Festina Lente for this academic year. However, today the session happened in a very special place. We travelled to Glencree to spend some time with the retirees from the yard in Festina Lente. These horses are enjoying their retirement after many years working in the riding school and in E.A.L. Spending time connecting with the horses is great for the senses and the spirit. You notice the breeze, the clouds, the shades of blue in the sky and the songs of the birds. You can find stillness and quietness within and you can enjoy the horses who want to spend some 'quality' time with you. 'Paddy' who was one of the first horses we worked with in Festina Lente over ten years ago always loves to relax with us on these visits and today was no exception.

There is something unique about an outdoor classroom even if it's only for a short space of time.

And sometimes we need to learn the importance of 'head space' or in this case 'horse space.'

A Big Thank you on behalf of Eric, Nathan and Bobby to Suzanne and Lauren from Festina Lente for all their work in the sessions over the last few weeks in the session and guiding us today in the fields.
